I noticed a few things at my first AVP Event -- the Huntington Beach Open. With Hermosa quickly approaching, I thought now is as good a time as any to write them down here. I've split the sections into the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Great movie, equally spectacular way to organize thoughts.

 The photos I took at the Huntington Open are coming... I took over 1,600, so it's taking a bit to sort through them, and take care of the small tweaking needed.
The Women's final between Elaine "EY" Youngs/Nicole Branagh & Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh are online now... go ahead & check out the album!

Well, it appears that I'll have media credentials to a few AVP beach volleyball events this summer. It should be fantastic but also very interesting at the same time... I've avoided photographing women's sports, since I feel like that's the domain of creepy, old and overweight men. Being none of the three, it'll be interesting to see how it works out... I'm still in Malibu, so it looks like I'll be photographing the next few events in the LA area. The first one is this coming weekend. For a guy who hasn't played an honest match in months, I'm finding every weekend rather filled with volleyball. Always watching, never playing... All this volleyball and motorcycles makes me think I'm slowly turning Californian... wicked slowly.

It's occurred to me that all this photography stuff has happened quite recently. Signing on with Pepperdine's newspaper The Graphic for my last semester senior year amidst my most difficult academic semester ever was borderline foolish. Yet a tragedy that occurred a few weeks prior to the end of the fall semester incited this decision.
